Leadership Academy I and II
will be meeting throughout the year to discuss issues in
education and to hear regional and national speakers
provide information on educational themes and trends, as
well as to work on projects to improve the quality of the
educational experience for students.
On March 2, the CEC will host its 17th annual Education & Government Seminar at the state Capitol. Many legislators and educational leaders will address our leadership academy on the current issues that are relevant to them as educators in Cobb and the surrounding counties.
The CEC has several other exciting and informative events planned for this spring! On February 18, both academies will hear from Cobb County teacher Brad Cohen. Mr. Cohen battled to overcome the challenges he faced with Tourette Syndrome. His remarkable story has been the subject of a Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie and book entitled Front of the Class.
The second-year members will attend an all-day retreat to wrap up their CEC experience in April, while the first-year class will meet in March to plan their committee projects.
The final event of the year will be an awards luncheon, which will culminate with presentations by the second-year members of their committee projects. At this event, members of both academies will be recognized for the successful completion of either their first- or second-year program with the CEC.
